It’s Travel Season … Is Your Body Travel-Ready?

Long flights, heavy bags, endless walking … when you travel there are some very real physical skills and stresses to worry about.

The Hidden Physical Demands of Travel

Whether you’re flying across the country or adventuring overseas, your body will face a host of unique challenges. Are you worried about any of the following?

In Airports & Planes:

  • Will your back and shoulders hold up as you shift, lift, and lower bags out of vehicles, onto security screening bins, and through the hubbub of the airport?
  • Will you stress your shoulder, elbow, or wrist while wrestling your bags up and down on the plane?
  • Will your hip and knees support you while getting out of your seat, or using the compact designed lavatory?

At Foreign or Historic Destinations:

  • Will your feet and ankles manage to get you around on uneven surfaces such as cobblestones?
  • Will your balance allow you to traverse narrow, uneven, or winding stairs?

Vacation Activities:

  • Will your back give out when you have rounds of golf planned daily?
  • Will your hips, knees, ankles, and feet keep up with the demands of elevation or uneven terrain when you plan a day of hiking or biking?
  • And your feet! Will they keep rolling day after day with all the walking common on vacations?

Anxiety about these can keep you from fully enjoying your special time. However, there is more you can do to be better prepared.

Old Injuries = New Travel Struggles

Whether you have pain or questionable balance, the cause behind them can be from what happened to you years earlier.

The injuries and surgeries from long ago can cause hidden disruptions to the way your muscle work together. These disruptions often show up as instability, stiffness — or even anxiety about being able to keep up.

That’s exactly what happened for Mara. She originally came to us with back pain and hip instability. As a reminder, her history included:

  • A fall that broke her tailbone
  • Childbirth that re-injured it
  • Three foot surgeries (all on her left side)
  • A C-section with her second child

With Bridging, she got relief from her back pain. She is now more worried about her feet holding up to the rigor of upcoming travel.

Preparing for A Dream Trip to Italy

In Mara’s recent session to prepare for travel we addressed:

  • Foot and ankle coordination
  • Hip movement affected by scar tissue
  • More complex movement flows between her feet and legs

✨ Now her feet feel strong, confident, and ready to explore Italy! Have a look to see how her ankles and legs changed.

Are Your Movement and Balance Travel Ready?

The Bridging® Technique gently restores your muscle coordination so you can move with confidence and comfort. It’s especially helpful if you’ve had:

  • Recent or past injuries
  • Surgeries (including C-sections)
  • Ongoing stiffness or instability
  • Anxiety linked to movement or balance

What to Expect in a Session:

  • Movement assessment (core + limbs)
  • Root-cause analysis of past movement disruptions
  • Gentle resets to reconnect muscle coordination

💡 Results are fast. The process is gentle. Changes last.
