Three Stages to Clearing Chronic Post-Op Pain
Chronic post-operative pain is the top reason teens and adults seek out Bridging for pain relief.
Not only is post-operative chronic pain a noted outcome of surgery, it is often a mystery to the traditional medical community as to why it occurs. There are many studies which categorize and quantify the pain, but they provide few answers and recommendations for remedies.
However, from a physics and micromovement perspective, the majority of post-operative pain is not a mystery.
Surgical procedures disrupt the way waves of physical force traverse through the body. This disruption results in a concentration of force, otherwise known as pain.
Different Than Strength and Range of Motion
Different from restoring strength and range of motion, the restoration and reintegration of micromovements restores the flow of movement in the area(s) affected by surgical procedures.
Actually, strengthening and range of motion exercises have a greater benefit after Bridging restores all of the background micromovement interactions.
The Bridging process identifies the pathways of physical stress, and then untangles them. By eliminating stress points, the source of irritation is removed and pain diminishes almost immediately.
It is so gratifying to see the quizzical look when these same teens and adults start moving without pain at the end of the session. Their questions:

- How did the pain change so quickly when there had been pain for months or years?
- How long will the pain stay away?

Changing the Narrative on Post-operative Pain
When I began my research on this topic, I had no idea how many people suffer with chronic post-operative pain (staggering!) Prior to this my research was focused on understanding the surgical procedures themselves.
Our client experiences match the research. So many clients share stories of how they elected to do surgery to help with pain, only to end up with different or more pain, and few answers. They did all the recommended therapy, sought multiple imaging studies, and had many specialist consultations, and still had pain.

The 3 Tier Bridging Process
These steps are the process we follow post-surgical:
Step 1 – Support the area affected during the surgery.
Step 2 – Reconnect the micromovement from the surrounding area(s) to the area disrupted by the procedure.
Step 3 – Reintegrate the surgical area to overall movement transitions of the body. Protective compensations are also cleared at this stage.
How soon can we start?
Post-operative movement restrictions can be worked with as soon as you are cleared for movement, generally 6-8 weeks after surgery.
