Chronic Pain? Often a long forgotten or key injury is at play

In our recent blogs I discussed how Bridging can help chronic pain related to medical procedures. Another reason we find behind chronic pain is injury and trauma. (Even if it was years ago!)
The impact from a trauma jams and distorts the pathways in which waves of physical force should traverse through the body. This disruption results in a concentration of forces and stress, which you feel as pain.
“But I didn’t end up at the ER”
You may remember a single event such as a fall or auto accident years ago. Often these injuries don’t seem so bad at the time.
You might have had a series of smaller injuries which created the right cocktail to upset the body in a bigger way.
Cumulatively these traumas to the body add up and take away avenues of compensation. This creates levels of stress, which play out as pain for you.
The Bridging process identifies the pathways of physical stress, and then untangles them. By eliminating stress points, the source of irritation is removed, and pain diminishes almost immediately.
From a physics and micromovement perspective, the majority of post-injury pain is quickly identified and resolved. It may take a couple sessions to completely clear the injuries, but pain diminishes with each step along the way.
Different than strength and range of motion
Different from restoring strength and range of motion after an injury, the first step with Bridging is to clear up the wrecked movement flows from the trauma.
Once cleared, the integrated micromovement relationships are restored in the area(s) affected by the impact of the injury.
(For example, to get traffic moving after an accident, you have to clear up the wreckage first. Until the wreckage is cleared, traffic is taking detours. These detours in the body are experienced as compensations.)
Strengthening and range of motion exercises have a greater benefit after Bridging restores all of the background micromovement interactions.
It is so gratifying to see the quizzical look when clients start moving without pain at the end of the session. Their common questions are:
- Is the relief real?
- How did the pain change so quickly when there had been pain for months or years?
- How long will the pain stay away?
The answer to these questions:
- Yes, the pain relief is real!
- The Bridging micromovements yield a different view on the stress causing the pain.
- Our systems-based approach yields a sustainable result.

Have life’s bumps and falls taken a toll on you?
Sometimes it’s not how bad a trauma was, but where and how often it happened.
These are the steps in we follow to figure out how old injuries are causing your pain:
Step 1 – Assess a series of core and limb movements for symmetry and interconnection.
Step 2 – Support the area affected during the impact. Because of the compressive nature of the injury, we find we have to literally wiggle and fluff the area out. (Otherwise known as decompress.)
Step 3 – Reconnect the micromovement from the surrounding area(s) to the area disrupted by the injury.
Step 4 – Reintegrate the area of injury to overall movement transitions in the body. Protective compensations are also cleared at this stage.
